Home Watch is one of the benefits of membership: checks while you are away, by a team that already knows your house and its trades.
Home Watch is one of the benefits of membership. Because your Home Manager already knows the house, its systems and its trades, a check is more than a walk-through. We know what normal looks like, what to test, and who to call if something is not right.
We offer Home Watch to members only; we don't take on house checks as a stand-alone service. If you are looking for a one-off house sitter, we are not the right fit. If you would like a team that looks after the whole house year round, including while you are away, read on.
You receive photographs and notes from each visit, so you know the house is as you left it. If something is found, your Home Manager sends the right licensed trade: a plumber for a leak, an HVAC technician for a heating fault, or a restoration crew if water has spread, through our water damage and flooding service.
A stranger walking through a large house sees rooms. Your Home Manager sees systems: the boiler that needed attention before winter, the sump pump that was tested last spring, the pipe that runs in an exterior wall. Home Watch sits alongside the rest of your preventative maintenance, so what is found while you are away goes into the same record as everything else in the house.
Many of our members travel for weeks at a time, split the year between homes, or spend winters away. In Toronto, a frozen pipe or a failed furnace in January can do serious damage in a few days, and frequent checks are a reasonable precaution.
Home Watch is part of a Zebrano membership. Members buy a minimum of 60 hours of Home Manager time at $121 an hour, with no monthly fees, and unused hours never expire. Visits use your Home Manager hours, and any trade work found is billed through Zebrano as it is done. To learn how membership works, see our membership page.
A walk through the house while you are away: checking for leaks, heat and power, signs of pests or damage, and mail and deliveries, and adjusting lights and window coverings. You get photos and notes after each visit, and the right trade is sent if something is found.
At least once a week for longer absences, and more often in winter, when a heating failure or frozen pipe can do serious damage in a day or two. Many insurance policies set rules for homes left empty, especially in winter, so check yours.
Yes. Each visit confirms the heat is running and the house is at temperature, and checks for leaks at fixtures, the water heater and the sump. Leak sensors with an automatic shut-off add protection between visits.
Yes. Your Home Manager can have the heating or cooling set, the lights on, and any repairs found while you were away already taken care of.
No. Home Watch is for members only, and visits use your Home Manager hours. Your Home Manager already knows the house, its systems and its trades, which is what makes the visits useful.
There are no monthly fees. Members buy a minimum of 60 hours of Home Manager time at $121 an hour, and unused hours never expire. Trade and maintenance work is billed through Zebrano as it is done, on the same invoice, because every home's needs are different.
Home Watch is for members whose homes we already look after, so every check is done by a team that knows the house, its systems and its trades.
